Full description
Begin a day of unforgettable discoveries with an independent departure from Shin-Osaka Station (If option selected) to Kanazawa, embarking on a journey that blends culture, history, and breathtaking landscapes.
The first stop is the charming village of Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous for its iconic gassho-zukuri houses, with steep thatched roofs shaped like praying hands, this picturesque destination was designed to withstand heavy snowfall. Upon arrival, visitors can enjoy lunch on their own and wander through the peaceful streets, admiring the traditional architecture, artisan workshops, and the serene atmosphere that feels frozen in time.
Next, the journey continues to Kenrokuen, one of Japan’s most stunning gardens and a true sanctuary of art and nature. Its ponds reflecting trees and flowers, elegant bridges, stone lanterns, and meticulously designed pathways create a space of harmony and tranquility, offering a magical experience in any season.
Later, the tour moves on to the historic district of Higashi Chaya where you can stroll through cobblestone streets lined with traditional teahouses that retain the charm of the Edo period. You can also explore art galleries, craft workshops, and local shops on your own, discovering the area’s rich cultural heritage. The district is famous for its geishas, who keep traditional Japanese arts alive. It is a place that combines history, culture, and living tradition, perfect for an authentic Japanese experience.
The day concludes with a return to Kanazawa Station to catch your train to Osaka (If option selected), after a full day of dreamlike landscapes, living history, and the cultural essence of the Hokuriku region. A complete and unforgettable experience that leaves a lasting impression of traditional Japan and its perfect harmony with nature.
